"The most important quality I look for in a player is accountability. You've got to be accountable for who you are. It's too easy to blame things on someone else."

All of the Barrhaven Girls Basketball Association coaches and administrators are volunteers.

All coaches not having accredited teaching or coaching degrees, or having completed minimum coaching classes, have two years to successfully complete the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) or equivalents approved by the executive.

Assistants are needed and are welcome from volunteer ranks and motivated parents, which can provide experience and qualifications to direct and coach a future team.

The BGBA offers financial assistance and technical support for its novice (and experienced) coaches. NCCP clinics will take a novice coach through the basic skills and drills, practice planning, and basketball rules.

Upon agreeing to coach in the BGBA, all coaches agree to abide by the Basketball Ontario Coaches Conduct.
