The best teams have chemistry.
They communicate with each other and they sacrifice personal glory for the common goal.

Competitive League (Eastern Ontario Basketball Association)

Objective

The Barrhaven Girls Basketball Association improves a girl’s level of basketball play. This is done within a team concept. The Blue Devils have always had "stars" (those girls with more natural talent than their peers). The BGBA does NOT try to specifically create a club or team of all-stars. However, Barrhaven Girls Basketball Association will competitively compete at the highest level available for its teams and it will always attempt to win, urging each player to do her very best. Playing for The Blue Devils should be fun for each girl regardless of the level of play of her team.

Teams

The BGBA offers competitive basketball for those players that would like a competitive program. The BGBA does not necessarily field a competitive team at all age groups. The level and number of competitive teams fielded by the BGBA remains the sole responsibility of the BGBA executive.

Try-Outs

Any player attending try-outs who is not a paid BGBA member must sign a registration form and pay a $25.00. Coaches' roster selections are final and not subject to appeal.

Try-outs are conducted where the number of applicants for a team exceeds the spots available. Twelve players is the standard maximum roster size, unless the Executive grants an exemption. The coaching staff for each division conducts evaluations. Ball handling, shooting, physical capabilities, (speed, vertical leap, ..) and court skills (understanding of the game) are factors used to evaluate the player's relative skill level.

Players released from the competitive tryouts will be assigned to a house league team.
