Novice Beginners and Intermediate
Program Emphasis:
Each week the 5&6, 7&8 year olds Novice Beginners and Intermediate groups will work with their instructor in developing a love for the game of basketball as well as a number of skills which will serve as a foundation in their development as a basketball player. The skill development will be taught in the context of a number of drills, individual work and fun games the players will participate in during each session.
In addition, each week the players will participate in 3 on 3 games where they will start to learn to put the skills they are acquiring in the context of a game. At the end of both the fall and winter session a small 3 on 3 tournaments will be organized.
Novice Advanced
Program Emphasis:
Each week the 8-9 Advanced Novice Development group will work their coach in developing a love for the game of basketball, skills which will serve as a foundation in their development as a basketball player and an understanding of the game. The skill development will be taught in the context of a number of drills, individual work and games the players will participate in during each session.
In addition, throughout the year the team will participate in approximately 10-20 games (possibly more depending on other community’s availability) against Atom house league teams, Novice teams from other EOBA clubs (e.g. Goulbourn, Russell) and other Atom select teams.
Participating in the Advanced Novice Development Program requires a high level of commitment from both the parents and the players. Girls ages 8&9 who are not able to make this commitment are welcome in the Intermediate NDP (ages 8) or in the Atom Developmental Program (ages 9-11).
