President's Award
In 2006, The President's award was established by the Barrhaven Girls Basketball Association to encourage our players to continue with post secondary studies.
This bursary, in the amount of $500.00 is awarded to 2 BGBA players who are under the age of 21, and have applied to attend the first year in a post secondary institution in the fall. The award recipients are chosen on merits relating to their academic standing, contributions to the community, and their involvement with BGBA.
Service Anniversary Awards
5 YEAR - Tony Wong from the Midget Recreation team – for his service as a coach and assistant coach for the past 5 years
10 YEAR - The husband and wife team of John and Dyann Bernard who have volunteered for the past 10 years.
John as competitive coach and jack of all trade and Dyann at various positions on the Board as Secretary, publicity, banquet coordinator, and camp administrator.
15 YEAR - Deb Morris - President for the past 15 years. In addition to her role in the BGBA as President, Treasurer, and web-master, Deb also served on the Basketball Ontario Board of Directors for 4 years, 2 years as Vice-President. She was also chair and member of the Basketball Ontario Provincial Advisory Committee and has been instrumental facilitating and structuring the Eastern Ontario Basketball Association.
