Volunteers

The heart of the BGBA is not only found on the basketball court, but in the volunteers that make the programs and association work day in and day out. Volunteers are coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, scorers, timers, convenors, directors and members of the Executive. Basketball experience is not a requirement - just a love of the game and a desire to do something for the Barrhaven community. We welcome basketball lovers from all over – whether you have girls in our programs or not.

Parents

Parents must volunteer time to the Barrhaven Girls Basketball Association if we are to be a successful organization. Parents serve as Coaches, Team Representatives, Team Managers, Trip Parent, Fund-raising Coordinator, Tournament Coordinator, Association Executive or other activities that are required. Volunteering Screening The BGBA has instituted a background check program to help ensure the safety of our children. Volunteers working directly with children will be asked to submit to a background check, and may be asked to provide personal references. Please do not take offense at this practice - we are following guidelines established by a number of sports and non-profit organizations across the province of Ontario.
